Originally by: Shyalud I disagree with the notion the UNICOR "fell". You could as easily say that CoD fell, but that wouldn't be true either. The truth behind the "dissapearance" of the two seperate alliances is that they, through diplomatic and political process, decided to merge to form a larger and stronger alliance. Quite a few things led up to that. In my opinion, we (UNICOR) should have ignored the JF/PA situation and remained in Geminate fighting TPS. The UNICOR/TPS fight was a good one, and I sincerely believe that UNICOR would have won out if we hadn't diverted forces to fight PA. However, we did divert focus to PA, which esentially left us homeless as an alliance. This led to the merger with CoD. You could accurately say that NSA fell, but it was mainly due to it's internal politics. Though all corps involved in NSA very much supported the Democratic government that we had, the emergence of "parties" essentially destroyed us. At least two factions formed within NSA mainly along the old UNICOR corps and CoD corps lines, with few exceptions.
The added pressure brought on us by BoB forced the parties to split, and that was the demise of NSA.
P.S. I hope someone is maintaining an accurate journal of the current events in the north. No matter what it's eventually called, it will make a good read 2 years from now.
Why did Unicor fall? It couldn't really stand to begin with. Here's the deal, Everlasting Vendetta leaves Stain Alliance, I joined few weeks before it happened, and since I was a from north to begin with I had no clue why and so forth.
So month or two of empire mining and war vs VOTF (that was actually fun like hell) and EV brass decides to make some moves and create "new alliance" up in north in order to gain access to 0.0 space. Their rationale was that since Space Invaders and mega corp didnt exist anymore, it will be easy pickings.
They thought we have pvp wing (falcon) that has been hardened in SA/CA war and northern band of pirates will be no match for that. True, we in falcon wing did pretty damn good, but tps was butchering EV carebears.
One thing I learned then, no matter what you do, you cannot stop a carebear from getting ganked. I mean we used to camp FDZ for 6 hours to get 3 frigate kills, baiting them, pretending to be afk, you name it, while a carebear undocks in a tempest in LS-JEP, doesnt check the local nor map, he doesn't even ask his corpmates for status, he just jumps into next door system and gets ganked by 3-man gate camp. Then they all go crying for pvp wing and calling us arrogant bastards.
So when Synapse, Blue Velvet & Cleo left EV and joined EVOL, falcon wing wasnt really fun anymore, almost every member of falcon wing (all like 10 of us) left EV. Then Syn, BV and Cleo joined with us again, and we all formed Equilibria.
The moment Equilibria was formed and we didn't fight the Unicor war anymore, Unicor went down. I'm not saying that 10 of us prevented it so far, what I'm saying is that carebears cannot uphold alliance in 0.0, no matter how deep pockets they got. And props to TPS for using that to their advantage.
Also from that day on, I wash my hands from people that can't fight their own fights, joining EVOL at that time was like nirvana for me. A pvp corp that was more effective at industrial stuff that most of the so called "pure industrial" corps out there. You can see the same now, BoB was formed on same principle, when were fighting we're fighting, when we're mining, crockite safespots.
That concept kinda marked the end of "traditional alliances" based on industry and deep pockets, and handful of fighters. Look at all successful 0.0 entities today, they all do the same. BOB/G/5 all do their own fighting and their own carebearing.
So again why did Unicor/FU/CoD/NSA die? Cos fighters can mine, but miners can't fight.
